About the Role

A food truck cashier is responsible for handling customer orders, processing payments, and providing excellent customer service at a mobile food truck. They play a key role in ensuring that customers have a positive and efficient dining experience.

Job Description


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:

    • Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.

    • Take customer orders and provide information about the menu items, specials, and any dietary restrictions.

    • Address customer questions and concerns professionally and courteously.

    • Ensure a positive and friendly customer experience.

  2. Order Processing:

    • Accurately input customer orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system.

    • Verify the accuracy of orders before transmitting them to the kitchen staff.

    • Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner.

  3. Payment Handling:

    • Accept cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payment methods.

    • Calculate and communicate the total cost to the customer.

    • Provide change and receipts as necessary.

    • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.

  4. Maintaining Cleanliness:

    • Keep the cashier area clean and organized.

    • Assist with general cleaning and tidying of the food truck when necessary.

  5. Menu Knowledge:

    • Stay informed about the food truck's menu, including ingredients, pricing, and daily specials.

    • Be able to answer customer questions about the menu.

  6. Cash Register Reconciliation:

    • Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.

    • Prepare end-of-day reports and reconcile sales transactions.

  7. Compliance and Food Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards.

    • Follow proper hygiene and cleanliness practices when handling food and cash.

  8. Promotion and Upselling:

    • Suggest additional menu items or specials to increase sales.

    • Promote loyalty programs or special promotions to customers.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous cashier or customer service experience is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.

  • Knowledge of POS systems is a plus.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Lifting and carrying supplies, as needed.

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, as food trucks are typically operated outdoors.



About Us

Ash & Kris Kitchen served its first meal on May 12, 2017, on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh. Our first truck was tiny, and did not have enough grilling, cooling, or storage areas. Though, we managed to deliver the promised flavor and quality from customer 1 and to thousands of other customers. Frankly, we pulled it off! 

Today, Ash & Kris Kitchen is one of the most demanded food trucks in the greater Pittsburgh area. We do not only serve our neighborhood, but have contracts with many corporations, Universities, and medical institutions. We have a dedicated team that is ready to provide uninterrupted catering services to up to 1000 hungry people per night. All while miniating authentic Mediterranean flavors and fresh homemade quality.
